Naveen Hegde
Naveen Hegde is an Advocate-on-Record with the Supreme Court. He has worked at JM Financial Asset Reconstruction Company Ltd in Mumbai, and, thereafter, with Mr. Ramji Srinivasan, Senior Advocate and Mr. Nikhil Nayyar, Senior Advocate in Delhi. He is currently empanelled with the Competition Commission of India.
Naveen has expertise in civil, commercial and public law litigation, including where he:
- Appeared in a wide range of insolvency cases before all forums, including cases involving claims ranging up to Rs. 12,000 crores.
- Successfully challenged the constitutionality of Acts and Rules in relation to appointment and conditions of service of members of tribunals.
- Appeared for a tech-company in an international commercial arbitration against an insurance company for a claim of over USD 280 million under a professional indemnity policy along with tortious claims.
- Defended an electricity regulatory commission in a series of tariff disputes with impact of over Rs. 2,000 crores, and in a case for recovery of regulatory assets of over Rs. 27,000 crores filed by Distribution Licensees.
Akshay Puri
Before co-founding Hegde Puri Sahay, Akshay worked with the dispute resolution teams of Trilegal and P&A Law Offices in Delhi.
He has represented multinational companies, Indian corporates, private equity firms, banks and financial institutions. He regularly appears before arbitration tribunals, High Courts, District Courts, National Company Law Tribunals, Consumer Protection Tribunals and Labour Courts. He also advises clients who are before regulators and law enforcement agencies, such as, SEBI and Enforcement Directorate.
Akshay’s experience in corporate commercial litigation includes where he:
- Successfully obtained an arbitral award of USD 110 million for a private equity firm against companies and individuals based in India.
- Successfully defended arbitration awards of over USD 250 million and USD 475 million in India and conducted multi-jurisdictional enforcement actions.
- Represented holders of debentures issued by a subsidiary of IL&FS Limited before the National Company Law Tribunal regarding recognition of their inter-creditor priority rights.
- Represented lenders, financial institutions, resolution professionals and liquidators in a wide variety of insolvency cases across various forums.

Srijan Sahay
Srijan Sahay heads the Corporate and Transactional practice at Hegde Puri and Sahay. Prior to co-founding Hegde Puri Sahay, Srijan worked in the M&A and Banking & Finance teams at AZB & Partners, Mumbai and Trilegal, Mumbai. He has advised international private equity funds, investment banks, asset reconstruction companies and institutional investors in complex high-value debt restructuring and cross-border M&A transactions.
After over seven years in law firms, Srijan joined Recur Club, a fintech platform, as their in-house legal counsel, advising on RBI-compliant processes, commercial contracts and regulatory compliance
He has expertise in a wide range of matters, including where he:
- Represented international private equity investors in acquisition and restructuring of debt of one of India’s largest private power generation companies.
- Represented international private equity firms in investments in Indian unicorn start-ups.
- Represented an Indian corporate in raising approximately Rs. 5,000 crores through lease rental securitisation.
- Represented large banks and NBFCs in secured and unsecured lending and recovery strategies.
